On March 25–26, 2026, Olympiacos S.F.P. participated in the final transnational meeting of the European project ESMIS, held in Barcelona.

During the first day, project partners presented the progress of implementation per organization, along with a detailed overview of the good practices and challenges identified in each country. At the same time, discussions focused on the final stages of the project, as well as on the strategy for the continuation and long-term sustainability of the ESMIS platform beyond the project’s completion.

On March 26, within the framework of the EFISport conference, the project results were presented in brief. The ESMIS platform was highlighted as a tool that supports organizations in promoting and adopting innovative and sustainable solutions for sports facilities.

The event brought together stakeholders from various sectors, including sports organizations (such as FC Barcelona), public authorities, research institutions, universities, and companies operating in the energy and technology fields, contributing to strengthened cooperation at a European level.

During the meeting, the main challenges faced by partners in each country throughout the project implementation were also presented.These challenges were related, among others, to the operation of sports facilities, energy efficiency improvements, and the implementation of innovative practices.

Olympiacos S.F.P.’s participation in the ESMIS project confirms its commitment to promoting sustainability and innovation in sports, actively contributing to the development of modern and efficient sports infrastructure.

Olympiacos Leads the Way in Sustainability through the ESMIS Program

Olympiacos S.F.P. continues to lead the way in European programs supported by the European Commission through Erasmus+, in which it actively participates. Our team recently held a scientific seminar for the ESMIS program (Enhance Sustainable Measures in Sports Facilities).

The ESMIS program aims to promote sustainability, inclusivity, and innovation in sports facilities across Europe, responding to the pressing need for a green transition in the sports sector. Through the development of tools, guidelines, and knowledge-sharing platforms, ESMIS seeks to support sports facility managers in adopting sustainable practices, positively impacting both sports and related sectors.

During the seminar, a discussion was held among representatives of sports facility administrations and sports clubs, focusing on how the ESMIS program can contribute to upgrading sports facilities. Particular emphasis was placed on the need for collaboration between stakeholders to continuously exchange views and best practices, as well as the possibility of using automated systems that generate real-time data to make informed decisions on improving infrastructure.

The ESMIS program is funded by Erasmus+, the European Commission's program for education, training, youth, and sport, which aims to enhance skills and modernize education and training systems across Europe.

As a key partner and one of the largest multi-sport organizations in the world, Olympiacos is actively engaged in European Commission and Erasmus+ programs, reaffirming its commitment to innovation and sustainability in sports.

Absolute Success at the Event for the European Program ESMIS in Piraeus

With great participation and interest, the event for the European program ESMIS (Enhance Sustainable Measures in Sports Facilities) was held at the Peace and Friendship Stadium. The program is implemented under the framework of Erasmus+ by the European Commission. Approximately 100 people attended the event, including sports professionals and athletes.

The ESMIS program aims to promote sustainability, inclusion, and innovation in sports facilities across Europe, responding to the pressing need for a green transition in this sector. Through the development of tools, guidelines, and knowledge-sharing platforms, ESMIS aspires to support sports facilities in adopting sustainable practices, contributing to positive changes in sports and other sectors.

The ESMIS program is implemented by a strong consortium of partners from across Europe. Apart from our team, the following organizations are participating:

·       Stichting Sports and Technology (Netherlands)

·       Sport Ireland (Ireland)

·       Associació Catalana Cluster De La Industria de L’Esport (Spain)

·       Universidad De Castilla – La Mancha (Spain)

·       European Platform for Sports and Innovation (EPSI) (Belgium)

·       CJT (Greece)

During the event, participants had the opportunity to learn about the program's goals and actions through videos and printed materials. The event also served as an opportunity for further networking and the exchange of ideas and knowledge among the attendees.

Olympiacos in Dublin for ESMIS programm

A delegation from Olympiacos traveled to Dublin, Ireland, to attend the meeting of the "Enhance Sustainable Measures In Sports Facilities" (ESMIS) program. The goal of the program is to promote sustainability, inclusion, and innovation in sports facilities across Europe.
The meeting aimed to discuss ways to improve the functionality of the ESMIS platform, as well as to identify successful examples of sports facilities that implement innovative sustainable development solutions both in Greece and abroad. Additionally, the ISO standards of the program related to environmental management and the sustainability of sports facilities were analyzed.
Some of the key topics discussed included the platform's functionality, the need to identify and record sports facilities that have successfully implemented innovative solutions, and their inclusion in the program’s questionnaire.
Furthermore, additional technologies for the sustainable development of sports facilities were discussed, along with the promotion of sustainable transportation methods.
The meetings for the ESMIS program will continue over the coming months, allowing all partners to discuss the next steps of the project.
