HEALTHY in Practice: A New Awareness Activity with Olympiacos’ Young Female Handball Athletes

Within the framework of the European project HEALTHY – Multisport Community Clubs promoting physical activity as a tool for a HEALTHY life, Olympiacos SFP carried out a new visit to the Club’s girls’ Handball team, continuing the project’s awareness-raising activities.

Following the previous engagement with the young athletes during their summer training, the project team returned to their sporting environment to reinforce the key messages of HEALTHY and highlight the importance of regular physical activity and the adoption of a healthy and active lifestyle.

The awareness activity took place within the athletes’ familiar sporting environment and was directly connected to their training routine. Particular emphasis was placed on consistency in exercise, active participation and maintaining physical activity as a regular part of everyday life.

Through this new interaction, the athletes had the opportunity to engage once again with the messages of HEALTHY, connecting them with their own everyday sporting experience.

The activity forms part of the “HEALTHY in Practice” actions implemented by Olympiacos SFP, aiming to promote physical activity and encourage healthy habits through sport.

The HEALTHY project is co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Sport programme.

Within the framework of the European project HEALTHY – Multisport Community Clubs promoting physical activity as a tool for a HEALTHY life, Olympiacos SFP continued its “HEALTHY in Practice” activities, bringing the project’s key messages into the Club’s everyday sporting environment.

During a summer training session of the Handball department, young Olympiacos athletes participated in an activity highlighting the importance of regular physical activity, consistency in exercise and maintaining an active lifestyle, including during the summer period.

Through the team-based training environment, participants had the opportunity to connect sport with key values promoted by HEALTHY, including cooperation, participation, social interaction and the development of healthy habits from a young age.

The activity forms part of the practical implementation of HEALTHY, through which Olympiacos uses different sporting environments and groups within the Club to encourage young people to remain active and make physical activity part of their everyday lives.

HEALTHY: Educating children about healthy everyday habits

Within the framework of the European project HEALTHY – Multisport Community Clubs promoting physical activity as a tool for HEALTHY life, Olympiacos SFP organised an interactive educational activity for children aimed at raising awareness of the importance of adopting a healthy and active lifestyle.

During the activity, the children actively participated in discussions and creative exercises, giving them the opportunity to share their knowledge and ideas about everyday habits that can contribute to their health and well-being.

Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of proper hydration. Specially designed educational cards, including the “Drink Water” card, were used to introduce children to simple and understandable messages about water consumption and its importance for everyday bodily functions and physical activity. The educational material served as a starting point for discussion and active participation, helping the children connect the information with their own everyday lives.

Through worksheets and group activities, the children also took part in an experiential learning process that connected knowledge with practice and encouraged the development of positive habits from an early age.

The activity forms part of the practical implementation of HEALTHY, highlighting that a healthy lifestyle is not only about participation in sport, but also about the everyday choices that support physical health and well-being.

Through HEALTHY, Olympiacos SFP continues to use sport and education as tools to empower children and encourage the development of healthy habits from an early age.
