Olympiacos S.F.P. Participates in the MAMA Transnational Project Meeting in Athens

Olympiacos S.F.P. participated in the transnational meeting of the partners of the European project MAMA – “MAternity on the Bench: ProMoting EquAlity for Women in Sports”, which took place in Athens on 20 October 2026 and was organised by Symplexis.

MAMA aims to promote gender equality in sport, with particular emphasis on the challenges faced by women athletes in relation to pregnancy and motherhood. Through research, the exchange of good practices, education and the development of policy recommendations, the project seeks to contribute to a more inclusive and supportive sporting environment.

The consortium brings together nine organisations from eight countries: Social Innovation Sportshub from Portugal, EPSI from Belgium, Olympiacos S.F.P. and Symplexis from Greece, Somos Poderosas from Spain, the Faculty of Sport from Serbia, CSIT from Austria, the University of Jyväskylä from Finland and KTG Research & Innovation from Cyprus.

During the meeting, partners reviewed the progress achieved so far and discussed the next steps of the project. To date, the research phase, the identification of good practices and the collection of data on the needs of women athletes and sports organisations have progressed significantly. At the same time, the educational materials and content to be used in the next phase of the project are being prepared.

Particular attention was also given to communication and dissemination activities, as well as to the planning of upcoming MAMA events, with the aim of raising awareness within the sporting community and strengthening dialogue around motherhood and equality in sport.

Olympiacos S.F.P. actively contributes to the project by bringing the experience and perspective of a major multi-sport club and by supporting policies and practices that empower women athletes throughout every stage of their sporting careers.

The MAMA project is implemented under Erasmus+ Sport and co-funded by the European Union.
