Olympiacos at the training session of the HIEP program in Italy

| HiEP

The processes in the European programs, in which Olympiacos participates, continued with great success. In the previous days, the first training session of the HIEP (Handball International Education Project) program took place in Chieti, Italy.

In this session, the technical staff of the Italian national handball team gave a presentation on how to spread the sport more widely through training practices.

The partners who were there attended trainings from all the Italian national teams in the country's handball centre, as Chieti is the base of the handball federation.

The HIEP project aims to research best practices in coach education at European and national level, both in handball and other sports, and to compile a manual and an online course dedicated to coaches to raise their level. The project includes an international training programme for coaches, which will provide joint training at European level. Finally, during the project, local activities such as coaching courses, mainly dedicated to young people, will be implemented.

On the part of Olympiacos, the Director of the Handball Academies, Nikos Grammatikos, was present in Chieti, Italy.

Nikos Grammatikos said: "We are extremely satisfied with the progress of the work within the framework of the European HIEP program, in which Olympiacos also participates. The first training session held in Chieti, Italy, was particularly productive. The first edition of the training session in Kiti, Italy, was very effective, both for the coaches and for the athletes of the Olympiacos Academies who were there. The technical staff of the Italian National Handball Team presented excellent training practices that promote the spread of the sport. Participants had the opportunity to watch training sessions of all the Italian National Teams at the country's handball centre, with Chieti being the base of the federation. The HIEP programme is vital for the development of best practices in coaching education at European and national level, not only in handball but also in other sports. Through this project, we aspire to create a manual and an online course to upgrade the skills of our coaches. The common European education provided through the international training sessions will be an important step for the development of sport in all participating countries. In addition, the local activities that will be implemented, such as the coaching courses for young people, are crucial for the future progress of the sport."
